Public works is the backbone of a thriving community and ensures safe roads, clean water, and reliable sanitation services that keep Helena running. Helena's future depends on well-maintained infrastructure. As your City Commissioner, I will prioritize responsible investments that safeguard what we have while preparing our systems to serve future generations.

Affordable Housing

Helena's families, workers, and young people deserve a place they can afford to continue to call home. I will support efforts to expand affordable housing options while protecting the character of our neighborhoods. Growth should strengthen our community, ensuring that residents can thrive and prosper.

Watershed and Outdoor Spaces

Our community depends on a healthy, well-maintained watershed. The Tenmile Watershed supplies the drinking water for Helena, and caring for the surrounding lands, including our trail systems and open spaces, is critical to keeping our community strong. Protecting these resources is not just about conservation; it is about ensuring that Helena continues to thrive for generations to come.

Economic Development

A resilient community is built on a flourishing local economy. As Helena Commissioner, I will work to support local small businesses, attract well-paying jobs, and promote responsible growth that aligns with Helena's needs. By investing in our community, we can ensure that people can afford to live, work, and build their futures here.

Meet Ben

I have had the pleasure of calling Helena home for over 10 years. As the former Water Treatment Superintendent for the City of Helena and an avid runner, I value both critical infrastructure and open spaces. During my time operating Helena’s water treatment plants, I gained a deep understanding of how this city functions and collaborated with nearly every department across the city. Having prepared one of the largest budgets for Helena, I know firsthand what it takes to maintain a thriving, sustainable community.

Currently I am the Executive Director of Montana Rural Water, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring Montana communities have access to safe and sustainable water systems, an essential foundation for strong local economies. By providing quality training and technical assistance to drinking water, waste water, and tribal systems, I help equip local utilities with the knowledge and resources they need to serve Montana residents effectively. My experience in this field has strengthened my commitment to practical, forward-thinking solutions that support infrastructure, public health, and economic growth.

In my spare time, you can find me supporting local events downtown, volunteering, or running on Helena’s second to none trail systems. Our access to the outdoors is part of what makes Helena such a great place to live, and it is something worth protecting.

Helena deserves leaders who are transparent, approachable, and engaged. I believe in listening, being proactive, and addressing complex issues with clarity and determination. As your next Helena Commissioner, I will bring the leadership this community deserves, focused on sustainability, thoughtful development, and ensuring every resident's voice is heard.
